KARACHI: Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi called India decision of not
sending their cricket team to Pakistan for the scheduled next year tour, a
disastrous for Pak-India cricket. “India verdict gave a negative impression to
the world,” Afridi told reporters at National Stadium, Karachi.
Afridi who is skipping the Sindh Dolphins in the ongoing Pentangular One-Day
tournament of Pakistan said, Pakistan Cricket Board has toiled hard to assure
the India series but the only disappointed came in our way.
He further said, since we had played in India under much worst condition when we
were threatened not to tour India but we always tried to give a ‘message of
peace’ through cricket.
However, he urge not to disappoint as India is not only team in the world to
play cricket we have many other teams who are willing to tour Pakistan or we
could play in their place, so we need not to follow particular team with
‘begging bowl’.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Sports Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani while
commenting on cancellation of Pak India Cricket Series, said India should have
visited Pakistan as there is conducive atmosphere for playing cricket.
The Minister said sports should not be linked with politics, adding both the
