India bat against England in second Test:

MOHALI: Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in overcast conditions in the second Test against England here on Friday.

The start was delayed by 30 minutes due to bad light. England made one change from the side that lost the first Test in Chennai, bringing in fit-again Stuart Broad in place of seamer Steve Harmison.

Fast bowler Broad missed the Chennai Test due to a hamstring injury suffered during the preceding one-day series.

India retained the same team, as expected.

England: Kevin Pietersen (capt), Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Matt Prior, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Monty Panesar, Graeme Swann. 12th man: Owais Shah.

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Venkatsai Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma. 12th man: Subramaniam Badrinath.
