Color: Pekingese are available in various colors and patterns but the most
common ones are black and beige or white with other colors.
Nature: Named after Peking, the city of China now known as Beijing, Pekingese
are believed to be an offspring of a lion and a monkey, according to a Chinese
legend. Pekes are affectionate, noble and get along with other pets in the
family but do not like strangers or may get aggressive, when disturbed while
they are resting and thus, not suited for homes that have small children in the
household. They are quite independent times and not easily submissive but can be
trained through positive reinforcement.
Grooming: Pekingese dog needs quite a lot of grooming including often brushing
its coat and applying powder and dry shampoo to it. It needs an hour of brushing
once a week at least. It is advisable to trim the excessive hair around the pads
of the feet.
Exercise: Pekingese dogs are most suitable for apartment lives as they do not
need much exercise.
