History
The Korat Cat is the native of Thailand. It is an ancient cat and was known as
Si-Sawat cat in Thailand. The name Korat originated when King Rama V of Siam
(Thailand) was presented with the cat. He asked what kind of cat it was and was
told it came from Korat - a high plateau in northeast Thailand. Korat cat was
believed to be a good luck charm. In late 19th century first Korats were
exhibited in England. The first modern Korats were introduced in U.S. in 1959.
Since then many Korats have been imported intoThailand.
Appearance
Korat is a medium-sized short hair cat. They have broad chests with
well-developed muscles. They have a single close lying coat that is always
silver-blue. The eyes are round and appear to be oversized according to the
face.
Personality
Korat is a very active cat with strong likes and dislikes. They are very
possessive of their owners and are very loyal. They make wonderful companions.
They are very easy to train. Krats are very intelligent and crave for human
attention.
