ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and property due to collapse of Ghakar Plaza. On the directive of the Prime Minister, the federal government rescue agencies including National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) undertook intensive rescue operation to save precious human lives by extricating those trapped in the rubble.

Two helicopters were also provided to take part in the rescue operation.

The Prime Minister also lauded the exemplary courage and valour of the rescue workers who saved many human lives by putting their own lives in danger in their efforts to extinguish the fire.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to immediately investigate the cause of the incident.
