In February 2008, Microsoft and Sony Ericsson announced the combining of their
technologies, to bring out a new smartphone, mainly as a competitor to Apple’s
iPhone. The smartphone was launched by Sony Ericsson, under the name of Xperia
X1. With this, the company, which was earlier working with Symbian mobile
operating system (UIQ), unveiled its first Windows-equipped mobile phone. In
fact, Xperia X1 served as the first model, in the series of Windows smartphones
to be launched by Sony Ericsson.
Design
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is as much attractive on the outside as it is equipped
on the inside. The mobile Sony Ericsson Xperia X1phone has an arc-slider design,
which has been equipped with a 3-inch VGA touchscreen. The 110.5 x 52.6 x 17 mm
dimensions of the phone support 65K colors resolution. While there is a full
QWERTY keyboard underneath, proprietary XPERIA panel menu gives you the freedom
to arrange the screen as per your choice. Other navigation options provided in
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 include a four-way key and an optical joystick.
Features
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is a quad-band GSM phone, which provides full support
for the 3G frequencies that are used around the world. It has been equipped with
Class 10 GPRS, along with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, version 2 Bluetooth and a miniUSB
also. The Windows Mobile Professional device promises you an internal memory of
400 MB, which can be expanded by making use of the Memory Stick Micro card slot.
In addition, the cell phone has also been embedded with built-in GPS navigation
and A-GPS support.
While designing Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson also kept the snapshot lovers in mind.
The mobile phone comes with a 3.15 MP camera, which supports 2048x1536 pixels
pictures and has autofocus, flash and video (VGA@30fps) options. For those who
want to stay connected with music, MP3/AAC/MPEG4 players serve the purpose. It
supports Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and has Qualcomm MSM7200
528MHz processor. Pocket Office, Motion sensor, TrackID music recognition and
