The much awaited phone by Samsung i900 has finally been unveiled to the public.
A Windows Mobile PocketPC, it is known as Samsung i900 Omnia and has emerged as
a strong competitor of the alleged 3G iPhone. The company will be displaying the
mobile phone at the CommunicAsia expo, to be held in Singapore from 17 to 20
June. However, in order to put an end to the anticipation of consumers, Samsung
had made its specifications public. Samsung i900 Omnia is very much in the
league of HTC Touch Diamond. Let’s check some more information about the cell
phone.
Design
Samsung i900 will come equipped with a 3.2-inch WideQVGA display, which supports
240 x 400 pixels. Samsung i900 OmniaIt is based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro and
will also have optical mouse, just like the one that comes with Samsung i780. It
has a TFT touch-screen, with 65K colors, and has dimensions of 112 x 56.9 x 12.5
mm. With the weight of 127 gm, it wouldn’t be too inconspicuous. Then, with a
phone like this, who wouldn’t want the people not to notice. Samsung i900 will
come in silver color, with brushed metal back.
Features
Samsung i900 Omnia comes packed with a 5 megapixel auto focus camera, which has
features like face and smile detection and auto-panorama shot. Since there is a
built-in GPS receiver in the phone, you can hope to use the geotagging feature
as well. The cell phone shares the memory of Apple iPhone, coming in both 8GB
and 16GB versions. On top of that, you also have the option of using a microSD
card for increasing the memory further. Then, there is the quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
support, combined with HSDPA 7.2Mbps.
Samsung i900 Omnia also has a built-in accelerometer, which allows the UI to
rotate automatically and follow the handset's current orientation. The Wi-Fi
support ensures that you never go out of touch with internet anymore. The
touch-screen of the mobile phone has been equipped with TouchWiz user interface,
for use on Windows Mobile. Other features of the cell phone include USB port, FM
radio with RDS and stereo Bluetooth (A2DP). Samsung i900 Omnia will be market
available from June 2008 (Europe - July 2008).
