Till now, if you wanted to use two SIM cards from different operators or two
phone numbers from the same operator, you had to carry two different mobile
phones. All this is now a thing of the past. Samsung has come up with a new cell
phone - D880 Duos, which can support up to 2 SIM cards, at the same time. Though
the secondary SIM can be used only for telephony and messaging, it is much
better than the bother of carrying two handsets. With this, Samsung has become
the first major mobile phone manufacturer to offer this technology.
Design
Samsung D880 DuosWhile introducing the new technology, Samsung made sure not to
compromise on the design and looks. D880 Duos is a slider phone, available in
just one color i.e. Noble Black. The cell phone has dimensions of 104 x 51 x
18.9 mm, making it quite sleek and compact. The weight of hardly 116 gm further
adds to the slim look of the mobile phone. All the covers have been made of
plastic, while the battery cover has a soft rubber-like matt finish. The
conventional looking phone also has dark-brown glossy accents on the top and
bottom of the slider.
D880 Duos has sliver accents, though their use has been limited to quite an
extent. The large 2.3" TFT screen of QVGA resolution, capable of displaying up
to 256K colors, is followed by the navigation pad, provided below. As you
slide-up the phone, the alphanumeric pad will come into view. The camera shutter
key and the connectivity port have been placed under plastic cover. The volume
rocker key and the dedicated dual-SIM management key have been provided at the
left-hand side of the Samsung D880.
Features
Samsung D880 Duos is a cell phone that combines good looks with excellent
features. One of the most useful features of the mobile phone is that it has two
SIM slots in the back, which can be employed to use two SIMs, at the same time.
The phone has been equipped with memory slot, which can support a memory card of
up to 2 GB. This means that you can store all your favorite photos, videos and
music numbers. The 3.15 MP camera of the cell phone supports 2048x1536 pixels,
has autofocus and also enables you to record videos.
Samsung D880 Duos has been equipped with Class 10 GPRS and Class 10 EDGE. It
also has Bluetooth and Infrared Port, both of them having version 2. The mobile
phone supports WAP 2.0/xHTML, along with MP3/AAC+/MPEG4 players and Java. If you
want to keep in touch with the latest songs, make use of the FM Radio provided
in the phone. Samsung D880 Duos comes with a standard, Li-Ion 1200 mAh battery,
with stand-by time of up to 360 hours and talktime of up to 4 hours.
