The candidates for the office of the president tendered nomination papers
to the election council of Pakistan.
With this, the earliest evolution of the presidential election has carried on
concluded. Pakistan Peoples Party and allies tendered 14 nomination papers of
Asif Zardari as a candidate for presidential election. The parliamentarians
according to PPPP, MQM, ANP, JUI and a greater number of coalition partners own
proposed and seconded the and cr of Asif Ali Zardari for the office of the
president. They included ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali, Mufti Ajmal of Jui, Farooq
Sattar, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Senator Israrullah Zehri, Sherry Rehman, Rukhsana
Bangash, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watoo, Yaqoob Bazinjo, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Agha
Shahid Bugti, Noor Alam Khan, Senator Waqar Ahmed, and Nawab Yousuf Talpur. PPP
and allies as well put forward two nomination papers for Faryal Talpur as
covering candidate of Zardari in the presidential election. Five nomination
papers got put forward for PML-N candidate Justice [r] Saeeduz Zaman and thre
for his covering candidate Roedad Khan. Those who proposed and instant justice
[r] Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui included Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Tahmina Daultana, Dr
Nelson Azeem, Anoshay Rahman, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Hanif Abbasi. Five
nomination got lodged on behalf of PML-Q candidate Mushahid Hussain Syed. His
Proposers and Seconders included Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Amir Muqam, Ghous
Bakhsh Mehr, Zubiada Jalal, Nighat Orakzai And Akram Masih Gill. Five
independent applicants as well lodged nomination papers in Islamabad.
They included Mehr Mohammad Ramzan, Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti, Rao Javed Ali Khan,
Waheed Kamal and Kusum Saba.
In Lahore, thirteen independent hopefuls file such a nomination papers. In
Karachi, nine nomination papers got put forward on behalf of Senator Asif
Zardari. One create was tendered by MQM and eight by PPP and ANP. Eight larger
number of aspirants too tendered the nomination papers. In Peshawar, Munir Ahmed
Sherazi of Qaumi Ittehad Party put forward his nomination paper.
No nomination papers got put forward in Balochistan.
