Word Scramble is a fun and challenging game to play at Halloween, which tests
your vocabulary at the same time. In fact, this game can also be played at the
school Halloween parties also, as it’s certain that children are going to love
the challenge. The best part is that the game doesn’t require any accessories or
a lot of space, like the other Halloween games. It can be arranged indoors or
outdoors, according to your convenience. However, mostly, the game is played
indoors only.
How To Play
Word Scramble is a simple game that can be played individually, in pairs or in
groups, to pose a literary challenge to your guests. One person announces a
'Halloween-related' word and each individual/ pair/ team has to write down as
many words as they can make from the letters of that word. The team that turns
up with the highest number of correct words, wins. Some of the suggestions of
the words that can be announced are 'Halloween', 'Trick or Treat', 'Dracula',
'Cauldron', 'Minotaur', 'Goblin', etc.
You can make the game more challenging by announcing that the groups have to
choose only Halloween-related words or should be able to justify why they chose
a certain word and how it is related to the holiday. The number of words they
make up and number of letters in each word can also earn them extra points. For
younger children, clues can be given for the words that they can form, such as
the first letter of the word and number of letters in the word. The first team
or child to come up with the answer will be the winner.
