Mouse Pad
Material Required
* 9- by 12-inch piece of Gray Craft Foam
* Non slip liner (found at most department stores)
* Sheet of purple craft foam
* Tacky glue
* Purple, gray, and black felt
* Ribbon
* Waxed Paper
Instructions
* Take a gray craft foam & round the corners of one short side of a 9- by
12-inch piece and trim the other short side to a point.
* Now trace this shape on the piece of non slip liner and cut it according the
shape traced.
* Trace the pointed side of the gray foam onto a sheet of purple craft foam to
create a face of the mouse. Add a curved line for making the top of the face and
cut it out according to the shape traced.
* Using tacky glue, attach a length of yarn to the rounded end of the gray foam
for making a tail, then glue the non slip liner to the foam, covering the end of
the tail.
* Glue two purple felt circles for making the ears to the centers of two
slightly larger gray felt circles.
* Now glue the gray felt circles just under the top edge of the purple felt
face.
* Glue ribbon whiskers to the end of the snout. Cover the whiskers with a black
felt nose, add black felt eyes, and glue the purple face in place on the gray
body.
* Cover the mouse with a piece of waxed paper, and allow the glue to dry
completely.
* Mouse pad is ready to be gifted.
Utility Box
Material Required
* Wooden Boxes (sold at craft stores)
* Fine-grain sandpaper
* Latex wood primer
* Acrylic paints and paintbrushes
* Acrylic varnish
* Felt
* Hot glue gun
* Items for decoration, such as costume jewelry, foreign coins, or golf tees
Instructions
* Before painting the box, lightly sand the wood and then brush a coat of primer
on all its surfaces. Lightly sand the box once more after it is dried.
* Now paint the box in stages (the inside first, the bottom next, and the top
and sides last), allowing the paint to dry each time.
* To paint multicolored stripes, on the box, apply strips of Easy Mask Kleen
Edge tape in a parallel pattern and paint between them. Remove the tape when the
paint dries.
* Now tape over the freshly painted areas and paint new stripes between them.
* Once the paint dries, apply a coat of acrylic varnish to protect and enhance
the colors and let it dry completely.
* Now, glue a felt liner to the inner side of the box.
* Then glue decorative items on the top of the box.
* If the items are hard to stick, try gluing bits of felt to the bottoms and
then glue the felt to the box.
* Utility Box is ready.
