* Measuring tape

Sketch your Design

* The first step is to decide what type of design you want. Go through fashion or bridal magazines. You can take inspiration from the dresses picturized in these magazines, before styling your own dress.
* Once you have decided on the design, go to a fabric store and find a pattern that matches it. When the basic pattern is done, it becomes easier to rehash it to minute detailing, such skirt volume, length, etc.

* Get one of your friends to take your measurements. Accuracy in measurements is very necessary to make your attire perfect.
* It is advisable to create a mock dress before trying your hands at fabric you have chosen for your dress. Create a mock dress in cotton muslin, as it will give you an idea of how the dress would come out eventually.
