It is vital to know the exact size of your bust line because an uncomfortable
bra can be harmful to your health. Tight-fitting bras may put undue strain on
your back and shoulders, while a loose one can hamper the firmness of the
delicate breast tissues. A tape measure is the most appropriate way to figure
out the measurement of your bust line. By using a flat, straight tape, directly
on your skin and under your bust line, you will be able to find out the correct
size of your bra. Given below are tips on how to measure your bust line.
Measuring Your Bust Line
Method - 1
* Make use of a tape measure to know the measurement of the bust line.
* Take the measurement directly on your skin. Place the inch tape on the fullest
area of your area and nowhere else.
* Flatten the tape measure by holding it tightly against your skin. Do not leave
extra space to measure your bust line.
* Make sure that you are holding the measuring tape appropriately, neither too
tight nor too loose in your bust line.
* Measure it carefully, so that you get the right size for your bra.
Method - 2
* To determine your band size, the first step would be to put on your best
fitting unpadded bra.
* With the help of a measuring tape, gauge your size. For this, you need to put
the tape around your rib cage, directly under the bust. Ensure that the tape is
flat and straight against your back. Measure tightly.
* In case the measurement has a fraction, round down if it is less than half and
up if it is more than half. For instance, if your measurement is 30 and 1/4
inches, round down to 30. However, if your measurement is 30 and 1/2, round up
to 31.
* Now, add 5 inches to your rib cage measurement. If you come up with an odd
number, round up to the next even number, as bras are available only in even
number sizes. For instance, in case your rib cage measurement is 30 inches,
adding 5 inches equals 35. You would then have to round it up to the next even
number, i.e. 36. This would be your band size.
* Now, again take the measuring tape and measure around your chest at the
fullest part of the bust line. It is usually across the nipples.
* At the time of measurement, make sure that the tape is horizontal, straight
and flat all the way around your body. Round up or down to the nearest whole
number. This would be the bust line measurement.
* To determine the cup size, subtract your band size from your bust line
measurement. The difference would be the cup size. |
