Many of us have worked through double-shift jobs, chose for double course load
for their graduation, have run biathlons and triathlons and ate double the food
then they can just because they were on a bet. Yet, none of this can be compared
to the challenges of handling twins or multiples at once. First of all, it is
not our choice to have twins or multiples. It was destined for us (though many
parents would not like to change the fact). When we know that we are going to
parent more than one child, we are joyous and fearful at the same time. We are
actually afraid whether we will be able to handle it all.
Secondly, in all the case we could have stopped whenever we liked. We could
leave one job, choose to drop a subject, stop running or not eating or drinking
more because we thought ‘enough was enough’. However, when you are parenting
twins or multiples, you are not allowed to just stop parenting or just leave a
child or neglect one of the children. We have to go on. There is a commitment
and duty towards our children that we have to fulfill, no matter what happens to
us. There are challenges and joys on our ways. There are strategies, tips and
