Many parents complain that their child just doesn’t eat enough. The amount of
food a child can ingest varies from individual to individual and whenever child
do not enough at one mealtime or just don’t eat at the appointed hour, they
usually makeup for it at the next meal and have their extras happily. The thing
that really matters is that your child is growing physically and mentally at
least at an average rate. If your child consistently misses his or her
milestones shown on the growth charts for more than a month, you may need to
consult a doctor about it.
Other big complaint is about feeding children who are picky eaters and would not
look at food, until they get whatever they are insisting for. While forcing your
child to taste and eat new foods may not work, you may add new foods to his diet
as special servings to make sure that he gets a balanced diet. You may even
allow the child to choose items he would like to eat from the nutritious foods
list. Some children like to have a particular snack or food repeatedly and
continuously for sometime and suddenly lose interest in it altogether and try
some other new food.
You can make sure that your child gets a balanced diet by making lists of things
that he eats and doesn’t eat and use the combination of things he likes well
enough to provide him with proper nutrition. All children, no matter how much
they hate eating, love food that is served beautiful and tastes delicious. Be
sure to keep the right amount of food on the child’s plate and do not force him
to finish everything on the plate, if he is not hungry. You can make eating a
food a game where the child is served and has to eat one tablespoon of each kind
of food for each year of the child's age but allow him to stop when he feels
that his stomach is full.
