For the first six months of baby’s life, nothing is better than mother’s milk to
feed the baby. So, there is no reason why mothers should hesitate in nursing
their babies. If mother is sick or breast milk is not being produced due to some
problem, then it becomes a necessity to put the child on infant formulas,
otherwise mothers should feed their milk to the baby for at least six months.
Breastfeeding ensures better health and growth in babies. In some countries and
cultures, there are myths that breastfeeding may affect mother’s health
adversely or may have a negative effect on their figures.
Many new moms wonder whether breastfeeding will make them look aged or older
than they are and they may lose their youthful looks. All these are just
misconceptions and a little exercise can actually make them look younger than
before. We have heard of many figure-conscious moms that prefer not to feed
their babies to maintain themselves when they could have done better by doing
specific exercises regularly that could help their bodies to regain their former
glamorous look after the delivery. Later, instead of blaming themselves for not
doing the exercises, they start blaming breastfeeding for the loosening of their
breasts.
The truth is that not nursing the babies properly may actually cause many
problems in moms too apart from the stunted growth in children. Breast milk is
good for physical and mental development of the baby. Moms who are proud of
their pregnancy period that extended up to nine months should pride themselves
at being able to feed the baby for six to seven months with something that only
they can provide the baby with and what is the best, most nutritious and
healthiest diet that baby will have in his or her entire lifetime.
