Researches have proven that the breast milk is not only nutritious for the baby
but also helps to protect the baby from the infections. Studies have also broken
the myth that mothers should not nurse their babies for the first three days
after the delivery. It has been found that any other milk other than the breast
milk is not so safe for the baby and cannot fight the infections in the baby as
well as the mother’s milk. There is little relation between the nutrients in the
mother’s milk and the elements that fight infections and stimulate baby’s
immunity system.
It has been seen that bottle-feeding increases the risk of infections in a baby
rather than breast-feeding. Thus, all myths against breast milk should be pushed
aside and moms should nurse the babies for better health, good immunity system
and greater safety for both the baby and themselves. The advantages of breast
milk for the baby are:
* Babies may be allergic to cattle milk or infant formulas that may result in
irritation in skin and other form of reactions but allergy to mother’s milk is
quite rare.
* Babies who drink breast milk are at lesser risk for breathing related
diseases.
* Breast milk is fed directly to the baby and so there are lesser chances of
infections.
* It is easily digestible for the baby.
* Mother’s milk is always fresh, pure, germ-free and nutritious.
* Mother’s milk is always the right temperature for the baby while you have to
heat other milks and then cool them off to the baby’s body temperature.
* There are no possibilities of adulteration in mother’s milk and it is free of
any viral or bacterial infections.
