Ferrari F1-2000 was engineered by Rory Byrne for the 2000 Formula One season.
The distinctive features of this design are the raised front end and the clean
lines of the rear. The main technical innovations in Ferrari F1-2000 were the
lowering of the centre of gravity and the use of new materials, enhancing the
overall performance of the car. F1-2000 was Ferrari’s 47th Formula 1 design.
Systems
Carbon-fibre and composite honeycomb material is used in the making of the car.
It has independent front and rear suspension suspension with push-rod activated
torsion arms. Ventilated carbon fibre disc brakes make them more sufficient. The
vehicle has longitudinal semi-automatic sequential electronically controlled
gearbox.
It is a seven speed semi-automatic gearbox, operated by paddles mounted behind
the steering wheel, ensuring optimum performance. The transverse mounting of the
gearbox helps keep most of the weight within the wheelbase ensuring a better
balance. Rack-and-pinion power assisted steering effectively handles the
vehicles in sharp turns.
Dimensions
The car has the weight of 600 kilo / 1322.8 lbs. The length, width and height is
4397 mm, 1795 mm and 959 mm respectively. It has the wheelbase of 1490 mm.
Engine
The engine displaces just under three litres and is good for between 770 and 850
bhp. The engine is of 3000 Ferrari type. 40 valves are available and maximum
power output over 770 hp. Fuel is stored through Magneti Marelli digital
electronic injection and ignition through Magneti Marelli digital electronic
injection. There is 1/20 scale plastic assembly model kit based on the Ferrari
F1-2000.
Safety
Considering the rapid speed, the wheels of ample width have been selected for
this racing sedan. Carbon-fibre disc brakes are more efficient in bringing the
race car to a halt. Collapsible steering column lessens the impact of injury in
the event of accident.
